So, I needed to rant somewhere, so where better than here, right? 8D For context, I work in a computer lab on campus, and have been here for 3 years. I am a Trainer/Shift leader, and I know plenty about computers _lolduh.

Basically, some asian lady comes up asking my coworker if there is someone who knows a lot about computers that can help her. She wants someone who is really, really good so she doesn't have to waste her time. My coworker refers her to me. I ask what the problem is, and she says it's Powerpoint related and continues to question if I am really good at computers because she made a special trip and has other things to do (Why even come in if you don't have the time to let me help you? It's a free service, you shouldn't abuse it and expect it to be ZOMGLIGHTNING fast... -_-'). I say I can attempt to and if not I will contact an IT person. She tells me that her PowerPoint presentation is not loading properly, and I ask her if she has Office 2007 thinking it may be a compatibility issue. She says she does. I ask her where she saved the file, she sounds very annoyed by this point and says "On my thumb drive". I ask her if I can plug it in to my workstation to see if it loads fine here while she sets up her laptop. She basically says, "No, because I already loaded it on a Library machine and it worked fine." and ignores my further request to see if it will load on my machine. After she gets her laptop all set up, she shows me it's not loading properly. As I tried to have her do before, to save time while she was setting up her laptop because she is in such a fucking hurry, I plug the thumbdrive in to my workstation. She complains the whole way, not wanting me to navigate to the file for her, asking me to use another computer because it's "too hard" to use my workstation behind the desk, etc etc. It loads fine, as expected. I noticed it was a .ppt file so I attempt to save it as a .pptx and the lady gets really defensive, saying "What are you doing? Why are you saving that? What type of file is it?" I try and remain calm despite the fact she's been nothing but rude. I say "I'm trying to save it as a different file type to see if that loads". At some point I get slightly peeved and say "Look, I don't have to help you if you won't allow me to, ma'am (I was going to add "I will get someone else to help you if anyone is available, it is 12:00 though so most of the IT staff is out to lunch."), and she interrupts me telling me to just answer her questions, blahblahblah. I try to open the file on her laptop and it won't open. She says it's because she only has Powerpoint viewer, not full Powerpoint, and that she was trying to tell me that but I wouldn't answer her questions (Keep in mind she told me she had Office 2007 when I first started helping her.. Besides, I had never heard of just a Powerpoint viewer you could install...). At this point I offer to call John Stevenson, our Office expert and IT staff member, so that maybe he could help. RIGHT after I said just that, she starts questioning his experience, asking what he does and if he will even be able to help. After I get her John's phone number since he's at lunch, she starts bitching me out, telling me I don't listen, my response was not right, that I get defensive too easily, that I am in a service job and am not providing service and that I just want to argue (Because I am telling her why I reacted the way I did). She was accusing me of arguing with her, and said she wasn't there to argue. I said "Well, I just don't know what you want", and she kept ranting about, basically, how I am so bad at my job. I guess she indeed didn't want to argue, she just wanted me to sit there and let her bitch me out. That's not my job to let people sit there and verbally assault me. What a bitch.

I will lawl if she tries to get me in trouble.
